What my retreat would look like

First step: choose a location. To me, a winter retreat is nothing without snow so I’m opting for a cabin in the mountains! I imagine something cozy, in the middle of a snowy landscape and surrounded by giant pines.

We need something big, so we could each have our own rooms. I’m thinking of something with a ground and first floors. Also, everything is wood, as it’s a really cozy material, and there’s a grand fireplace in the living room around which we would gather.

Antonio, The Black Veins

Let’s be real: Antonio is the person to call whenever you feel down. He’s one of The Black Veins’ guardians, teens entrusted to guard (duh) magic, and their road trip certainly goes from worse to worser: but sweet, care-free Antonio is here to cheer anyone up. This sweet boy would do anything to see those he cares about smile, and I’m definitely taking him with me on this vacation!

Maelyn, In a Holidaze

Maelyn Jones is one Christmas girl. She spent every Christmas in a cabin, surrounded by her family and friends, and she just cares about everyone so much. Her mission in In A Holidaze is to save her holiday, as the cabin she spent every winter since she was born is being put into the market, and to find what makes me happy. Even confused by the fact that time loops are real, she took time to care about everyone and to make sure they were happy and spending a good time. Plus, she’s the queen of Christmas and with her, this retreat will be perfect.

Melody, The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre

If there is someone to put in charge of games and activities, it’s Melody McIntyre. Stage manager for two years in a row at her high school theater, she sure knows how to plan. She might even be described as an organization freak, with her folders and Google docs, but it’s with good intention. And if she gets too deep in planning, Maelyn Jones would be here to help her — after all, her usual holiday is filled with a lot of fun activities.

Charlie, Fat Chance, Charlie Vega

There’s nothing better than cozening up in a warm blanket while the snow is falling outside, with a good book and a hot beverage, and Charlie Vega knows that. An introvert like me, we would laze around together while the others are planning activities or bantering, and emerge from our blankets when everyone is finally ready.

Evelyn, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Who else than glamorous actress Evelyn Hugo would have a busy agenda? But her relatives are extra important to her, and of course, she would have made time for them. She adds the touch of glamour this retreat needs and tells a lot of juicy gossip about the whole of Hollywood.

Hercule Poirot

This retreat is taking a dark turn. Because wherever Hercule Poirot shows up, death is always nearby. Fortunately for us, the poor guy was just a neighbor, and no one among us got harmed. But! It’s time to play Clue! Oh, I always loved some Poirot’s story behind closed doors, after a Russian train and an Egyptian boat, it’s time for Poirot to investigate a winter lodge! Who do you think did it??

Celia, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Of course, Celia is here too. Wife and long-time lover to Evelyn Hugo, the two actresses are taking advantage of the holiday to spend some time together, free of their hectic agendas. They’re super cute and fun to be around, and who wouldn’t spend their holidays with two superstars?

Hypnos, The Gilded Wolves

Hypnos is not part of The Gilded Wolves gang, but tags along for the majority of the book. He’s an outsider trying to fit in, and never take anything seriously — or at least he seems to. He’ll be the first one to laugh heartily or make a good joke, and clearly, he’ll make fun of anyone. But he’s also a soft boy and makes sure no one is actually hurt by his jokes.
